What Is Involved In An Electrical Rewire?

An electrical rewiring is typically a major renovation job that involves replacing some, or all of the existing electrical wiring in a home or business. The process usually involves removing the old wiring, replacing it with new wiring, and connecting it to the existing system, or completely replacing all electrical components within a building.

In some cases, additional wiring may need to be added to accommodate additional electrical devices or to meet current safety standards. Depending on the scope of the job, it may also involve installing new switches, outlets, circuit breakers, or other electrical components.

How Much Does An Electrical Rewire Cost?

Rewire projects are often complex and involve the use of specialised tools and materials. The cost of a rewire project will depend on the size and complexity of the project, the quality of materials used, and the experience of the electrician.

Rewire projects can also take several days to complete, depending on the size of the job. All of these factors can contribute to the higher costs associated with rewiring.

Can You Use The Old Containment When Carrying Out A Rewire?

No, you should always use new containment when carrying out a rewire. Old containment may have been exposed to wear and tear and may not be adequately rated for the job.

There are exceptions, though, as budgets do not always allow us to replace all containment. In these cases, we would inspect the existing plan and adapt to try and stay within the customer’s budget. This way we can achieve the higher standard installation whilst helping the customer to keep costs down.
